Three Film Ideas

Three Final Ideas

First Idea

My first idea is based on an young girl who has a child and she is regretting her life because she sees everyone else having fun whilst she is being stuck at home with no life because she is a mother. The film shows how the girl will kill people similar to her age because she is jealous of them. and how they have all abonded her because she now has children. The baby is heard crying through all of the scenes and this symbolic as for her she feels this is all of her problems. The same scene is then repeated although the group of people outside are different and then the familiar scene from the beginning is used as if it is a ritual that is being repeated throughout the night although the third killing is different as there is now no screaming coming from the child and the small details of the final death is different the object is different and so is the setting of the scene and everything is unusually quiet which will add to the tension. The end happens when she is walking down the same alleyway following someone different who keeps re-appearing throughout the several other murders and the figure is stood at the bottom of the alley where the following murders have taken place although this one is different as the film ends on a cliff-hanger when the killer lunges from behind although the person turns around just before she commit’s the murder and grabs their hand and this is when all you will hear is a scream and this will make the audience wonder who is the killer.

Second Idea

The next idea begins with a teenager walking with a small child into a house and the main idea is that the teenager takes small children from their parents and will holds them captive within her house. The story will show how she is take the children because she wants them to become her own children so she kills the mothers and takes the children. This idea was interesting as it allowed the audience to see the contrast between the two sides of her as when she is with the children she is going to be extra nice to the children by giving them sweets and giving them everything they want. The way of murdering the parents will be different and will consist of them be dragged into the hedge or away from the road and the child is left there standing whilst the mother is being dragged away screaming from the scene and is then stabbed and as the killer takes the child away from the scene of the murder and then a shot reverse shot will show the trickle of blood away from the scene. During the middle of the film it will show how a montage of how the woman has killed in the past as this will make the film more believable. This will then be repeated and will happen another time before a cliff hanger is used showing the women sitting in the centre of the floor with children surrounding her.

Third Idea

This idea would begin with a montage showing how the victim/killer had been bullied in the past which will be effective as it will give the audience some background on what the character is like and will give the character some substance. The killer will kill people from this one party because he/she has had enough of all the bullying and it is the trigger for him as he sets of to kill people as being humiliated in front of everyone. The focal point will be the two murders which take place after a close up shot shows the killer reaching for the knife and the placing it under their costume. The murders will be simple and wont be complex as the killer is in a frenzy and two people die and then the ending will consist of a cliff-hanger where he is about to kill someone whom is nice to him and he stops and then runs off.

  1. Read over your work for grammatical errors.

Your first idea is very detailed. You have written this more like an outline which breaks down your idea scene by scene. You should really try and keep this simple by providing just a summary of the plot rather than a breakdown of the film stylistically. If you simplify your summary this will make your narrative easier to follow.

The second idea has a better summary of the narrative. However, it is a little complicated for a short film, particularly when you are dealing with the character's motivations and back story. There are some nice ideas visually here though and this idea could work well.

Your third idea, although interesting from a characterisation point of view, is a little cliche. It might be easier if your story focused on one murder rather than a series as you only have a very short space of time to show this and also to deal with the development of your character.

Some nice ideas here but you really need to keep it simple at this stage.

  2. The three ideas also lack reference to a USP. However, a clear attempt has been made to follow typical codes and conventions.
